Jouranl App that gets out of your way
I journal a couple of times a week (on a goog week) for health and fitness reasons. Had previously used Mariner Software’s MacJournal. While that was fine software, I found it to have too many features that got in the way of journaling. The strength of Day One is its simplicity. Open the app and you have a list of recent entries. Hit the + button and you’re in a new entry. App supports Markdown for basic headings and lists, as well as hashtags for tagging. It’s just dead simple. One niggling feature that has been improved is the adding of favorites to geo-locating of entries. Nice to have entries written at my home pinned to the correct address as oppsed to a general range of house numbers.
Really, the only thing I want to see added to the program is custom writing prompts. They have a feature for “inspirational qutoes on lock screen.” And I’d like to see some way to customize these qutoes with qutoes or prompts of your own form a plain text file.
If you’re looking for a program that makes it easy to start journaling with solid features for organizing entries after the fact, you really can’t go wrong with this program.
